Abundant illustration of excellent quality composed of 156 chromolithographic plates (75+81) , a frontispiece, one in black and 239 engravings in the text in black after the artists Riocreux, Faguet, Poteau. Controlled and complete.

Copy autographed by Rothschild with sending to Lahure on the half-title of the second volume.

Covered in a beautiful green half-sheepskin binding, ribbed spine decorated with a mosaic and gilded red leather title label. Original covers preserved (without the spine) .

Condition: Well preserved bindings, faded spines. Fresh interior in volume 1, boards very clean and without foxing. Wetness on all the text leaves in volume 2, the plates are nevertheless spared, only a little warped in the lower part.
