Mario Algaze (Cuban-American, b. 1947). Silver Gelatin Photograph. "Las Dunas de Puquio" - ca. 2000. Purportedly signed on the verso. A lyrical view of the dunes of Puquio in Central Peru by contemporary Cuban-American photographer Mario Algaze - part of his Latin American panorama series. Award-winning Algaze left Cuba and relocated to Miami, Florida in 1960. The vibrant Latino culture of Miami inspired him to travel to Central and South America where he was a photojournalist for various national and international publications. Algaze studied art at Miami Dade College in the 1970s and has used his talent to explore his heritage as well as the lands and people of other cultures. Size: 22.5" W x 7.5" H (57.2 cm x 19 cm); 32.75" W x 18.25" H (83.2 cm x 46.4 cm) framed

Algaze's "El Valle Sagrado de los Incas, Peru" (2002) sold for $998 at Sotheby's, 29 November 2004, lot 2, illustrated on page 7 of the catalogue.

Retail pricing for Algaze's photographs from this series is approximately $3400 as framed.
