Signed FD-14 Zig Zag Man Handbill

As one of the most popular images of the Family Dog series, this piece carries the Zig-Zag rolling papers logo and lettering. When Mouse and Kelley decided to purloin the design, they apparently knew that it constituted copyright infringement because they included a quotation at the bottom of the poster: “What you don’t know about copying and duplicating won’t hurt you.” The Zig-Zag folks saw this image as great free advertising and never bothered Mouse and Kelley. The popularity of this piece was so great that it became the first poster in the Family Dog series to be counterfeited. The handbills carry the same design as the posters, with the exception that they come in two types—those with the Family Dog logo printed in gold ink, and those with it printed in blue ink. The handbill offered here is the Type A version with the logo printed in gold.
