Kennedy Jr. was born in 1960 in Washington D.C., mere weeks after President John F. Kennedy was elected to the Presidency. Despite being born into the political dynasty of the influential Kennedy family, Kennedy Jr. began his career volunteering for the 1984 Democratic National Convention, and subsequently worked for New York's Office of Pubic Development in a cubicle, earning the same annual salary of USD 20,000 as his colleagues. Several years later, he branched into the nonprofit sector to run Reaching Up, and organization devoted to providing educational opportunities to individuals with disabilities. He earned a J.D. at NYU that same year, and shortly thereafter began practicing law at the Manhattan District Attorney's Office. He tragically passed away in a plane crash on July 16, 1999, when he was 38 years old.
