Partially printed document executed in ink. 14.5x26.4 cm (5½x10½").

Bill of lading for items shipped from Hong Kong to San Francisco at the height of the Gold Rush. The "Ten Thousand one hundred and twenty four packages" (9,000 or them were bricks) were for delivery to James [sic] P. Leese, or to Thomas O. Larkin (if Leese was absent). Cooper has signed at the bottom of the recto of the document, and Leese has signed on the verso. Larkin and Cooper were half-brothers, and Leese and Cooper were both married to daughters of Ignacio Vallejo. The items shipped are listed at the right side of the document, and include 100 bags of rice, 6 couches, 149 cases of shirts, 34 cases of beer, 200 tubs of sugar candy, 9 kegs of dates, 3 cases of cigars, and of course the 9,000 bricks.
Condition Report: A little wrinkled at right side with short tear and small chip; very good.
