Heading: (Szukalski, Stanislav)
Author: Raley, G.H.
Title: A Monograph of the Totem-Poles in Stanley Park Vancouver, British Columbia - with annotations and Zermatism drawings in the hand of Stanislav Szukalski
Place Published: Vancouver, BC
Publisher:Privately printed
Date Published: 1937
Description:

24 pp. Saddle-stitched wrappers although lacking front cover. Includes a 3½x5" original photograph of Szukalski fronting his Buick amid a typical Los Angeles landscape.

An intriguing piece from Stanislav Szukalski's private library peppered through with annotations and margin drawings in his hand furthering his research into Zermatism and raising the work of Rev. Raley to the status of an artist's book. If ever the words "boldly signed" were warranted in the book trade, behold the strange and beautiful autograph of Stanislav Szukalski on the title page. Additionally signed by author G.H. Raley. Szukalski's "science" of Zermatism postulated that all human culture was derived from post-deluge Easter Island and that humankind was locked in an eternal struggle with the Sons of Yeti ("Yetinsyny"), the offspring of Yeti and humans. Here Szukalski interprets the indigenous myths of the Pacific Northwest according to the hermeneutic lens of Zermatism, "Thunder Bird is the same as Osiris, Krak, Perseus, Theseus, Jezus or St. George and Siegfried the destroyers of Darkness an [sic] Evil, and such Saviors of terrified Humanity as Zuni Hero-God Poshaiyankya 'Baxa, Je On K Ja' (Polish) 'God, He is With Me' 'God, is, He Towards I' (Me)"...
Condition Report: Leaves toned somewhat, some bleed-through from glue Szukalski used to tip in his notes, rear cover with creasing and some stains and soil; very good internally.
