Sikhote-Alin Meteorite "Shrapnel" Iron, Coarse Octahedrite - IIAB Maritime Territory Siberia, Russia (46°09'36"N, 134° 39'12"E) Witnessed Fall: 12 February 1947 10:30 am local time 2.39 x 2.14 x 1.46 inches (6.07 x 5.44 x 3.70 cm) This is a quite stout piece of Sikhote-Alin "shrapnel" from the famed meteorite fall in Siberia dating back to 1947. The widely witnessed fall produced superb examples of this metallic material that evidences an extreme fragmentation leaving pieces of torn metal. This great specimen exhibits a fabulous regmaglypt and weighs an impressive 154.5 grams. [Scale: 1 inch, with mark at 1 cm]
