Silver Imperial Japanese Navy and American Fleet Trophy Punch Bowl, Japan, Meiji Period, c. 1908, double-walled bowl with weighted base, the sides decorated with embossed flags of the United States and Japan, roses, and chrysanthemums, the base engraved "A Duplicate of the Trophy rowed for by boats of the Imperial Japanese Navy and the American Fleet at their meeting at Yokohama, October 23rd 1908," one of a pair of trophies given to fleet commanders at the event, the bottom with Japanese silver marks for Shigemitsu Sei, ht. 10 5/8, wd. 14 5/8 in., approx. 126.1 troy oz.
