Silver filigree basket: cast, stretched, hammered twisted and soldered silver. Viceroyalty of Peru - Sangley (Chinese in the Philippines) or Goa. 17th – 18th century.
Small basket with an upper handle and floral and vegetation decoration. It was used for mixing fragrant substances and petals of various flowers to perfume rooms in houses.
This type of technique was mostly developed in the Ayacucho region of Peru, where the silversmiths acquired great skill in this difficult art.
