Substantial silver ewer with pedestal base, the gourd-shaped body is decorated on each side with a circular ornament on a matte background composed of scrollwork and palmettos and two round medallions adorned with rosettes on the front and back. The curved handle is in the shape of a sea monster. The cinched neck is adorned with a design of bearded mascaron heads. The ogee-shaped hinged lid is topped by a top-shaped finial. Foreign craftsmanship, probably German, Hamburg 19th century Silver 800/1000 Hallmarked: Baack Height: 33. 5 cm Length: 18 cm Weight: 933 g In good condition, clean
