These bird boxes or ‘tabatieres’ have been manufactured since the 18th century and the early models are highly coveted and precious. This one from the 2nd half of the 20th century was made in Germany by the Griesbaum company. It is still in the original protective box and has the original user manual in earlier languages. The winding key is shaped like a bird. The mechanism has been professionally checked and the bellows and spring have been renewed. It functions again as one might expect.
