Sir Francis Rose, British 1909-1979 - Mausins, Mougins; brush and black ink, signed, inscribed and dated 'Francis Rose Mausins 1933', 26 x 19 cm (ARR) Provenance: with Abbott and Holder Ltd., London, according to the label attached to the reverse of the frame; private collection Note: Rose began his career as a set designer for Diaghilev's Ballets Russes, sometimes collaborating with his friend Christopher Wood. He was a friend of Gertrude Stein, who owned many of his works and of whom he made a portrait.
