Sir Francis Rose, British 1909-1979 - Standing male figure, 1933; oil on board, signed and dated lower right 'Francis Rose 33', 54.9 x 45.7 cm (ARR) Note: Rose began his career as a set designer for Diaghilev's Ballets Russes, sometimes collaborating with his friend Christopher Wood. He was a friend of Gertrude Stein, who owned many of his works and of whom he made a portrait.
