The present lot was commissioned by the American filmmaker, Robert J. Flaherty. Colman 'Tiger' King was the protagonist in Flaherty's 1934 Irish fictional documentary, Man of Aran. The film depicted life on the Aran Islands off the western coast of Ireland and portrays characters living in premodern conditions.
