Dithlefsen, Yokohama Japan, 20th Septbr. 1882’ with an accompanying note from a previous owner which reads , Capt. Paul Andreas Dithlefsen was a Danish born American Captain, His wife Sarah was from Rhode Island, The gift was presented in Sept 1882 while P A's licence as sea-captain was suspended for 3 months, due to his ship being wreaked on a voyage from Yokohama to Hakodate.Note: copies of some of the images from this album are held in the Harvard College Museum, object P1982.377.21, https://harvardartmuseu
