Sivas
dated 1252 = 1837, 145 x 110 cm, Central Anatolia
Frequently encountered in the Orient, the design principle of nested forms has almost been reduced to absurdity in this small Sivas. Narrow border stripes in diverse colours combine into rectangular frames that are closely spaced together in a hermetic configuration. They are decorated with small dots. The yellow band of tiny triangles marks the beginning of the borders. The rug may have been made in Zara.
Condition
Pile in good condition and at its original height. Both finishes reduced.
