Skull of West African Lion from 1900’s
This skull actually came from the young lion’s head in the first lot of the auction. You can see from the massive teeth and jaw that it was a carnivore which fed on meat from other animals. The teeth are the real thing, not imitation, and the jaws of this young male open to about 4 1/2 in. wide. The skull measures 14 1/2 in. from front to back, 6 1/2 in. high, and 9 1/4 in. wide. From the Dale Baker collection.
