Small lidded box with lobed lid, in cinnabar lacquer, China, late 18th–early 19th century
The top of the lid is carved with two figures leaning against a large rock beneath a wutong tree, near which a waterfall flows. The scene is surrounded by a leiwen frieze. The edges of the box are engraved with a repeating motif of small flowers within a hexagonal field.
