Slipcase [some wear], second volume has an original dust jacket [an impression spot on spine]; hard boards, full cloth [the spine of the first volume is soiled: see photo], 6.1/4" x 9.1/2", 1177 pages including Index at the end of the second volume + several blocks with monochrome illustrations; printed on nice cream-color paper; very good condition.

This is the first biography of John Adams to be written since the great treasury of his papers and letters became available to scholars. Adams was one of the saltiest and most perceptive diarists and letter writers in our history and these volumes illuminate the character of a man who was, even in his lifetime, a symbol of New England and America.
