Smithsonite & Hydromagnesite Mammoth-St Anthony Mine, St. Anthony...
Smithsonite & Hydromagnesite Mammoth-St Anthony Mine, St. Anthony Deposit, Tiger, Mammoth District, Pinal Co., Arizona, USA "Several pale green balls of smithsonite up to about an inch with tiny white balls of hydromagnesite on a brown matrix. Bought the specimen from Ralph Dietz." - Rock H. Currier The Mammoth-St. Anthony Mine at 'Tiger' is legendary for being the source of so many rare and exotic mineral species that the merest whisper of that hallowed name has been known to induce subtle but intense interrogation sessions, whose sole purpose is in possibly acquiring such goodies. Hydromagnesite is rather rare as a secondary mineral in an economic ore body and an occurrence in concert with well-crystallized Smithsonite is virtually unheard of - this small cabinet specimen that shows the mineral diversity of this locality. It has a custom acrylic stand. Overall Measurements: 2.6 x 2.0 x 1.2 inches (6.5 x 5.0 x 3.0 cm) Offered at no reserve Provenance: Ex. Ralph Dietz Collection [RHC #388, acquired 1964] MinID FJ5-KUF [Scale: 1 inch, with mark at 1 cm]
