Songye Kifwebe Mask, Democratic Republic of the Congo, hollowed-out, tapering form, pierced around the edge for attachments, with a square protruding mouth beneath a triangular nose and wide, slit-like eyes, the whole decorated with linear striations filled with white kaolin pigment, the ridgeline, nose, mouth, and eyes in black, with custom bronze stand, (age cracks and minor wood loss), ht. 17, wd. 8 in.
