Sheet is taped to mat window verso in two areas along upper edge; one tape piece on upper right corner verso; soiling from handling visible on verso; overall even toning to sheet; staining along upper edge and in center left edge; upper left corner is creased; pinpoint hole in upper center edge; small loss to upper layer of sheet in center, directly above horse's neck. This watercolor was likely executed as a poster project for the Rochers de Montreux in Switzerland. The artist created another work to promote the Rochers de Montreux in 1914 (watercolor on paper, 20.5 x 27 cm, signed and numbered lower right), which belonged to Collection Hillman, New York. During this period, Delaunay created many advertising projects for companies such as Dubonnet, Zénith, and Lumière, among others.
