Soup ladle - .925 silver - Richard Crossley - England - 1791

A beautiful George III Large Soup Ladle, made in 1791 by one of the most important manufacturers of flatware in the late 18th and early 19th century, Richard Crossley. Item is hallmarked with English standard mark for Silver . 925 fineness, city mark of London, Duty mark of King George III (used between 1786-1821) , and the letter "q", for the year 1791. Also is marked with RC into a square, maker mark or Richard Crossley. He entered his first mark as a spoon-maker in partnership with William Sumner I on 1st May 1775 and his first mark on his own on 5th April 1782 in London. He worked alone until 9th April 1807, when he entered a mark in partnership with George Smith IV. He was alone again when he entered his next mark on 2nd January 1812 and died in April 1815. On the handle is engraved a figure of a hunting dog (brac allemand) . Ladle is in very good condition, despite the age, please check pictures for condition and hallmarks.
