= The first (German) edition was published in Nuremberg in 1719 (w. substantially less maps and plates than the Dutch edition (26 (incl. frontisp.) in total)). With contemp. owner's entry reading: "Dirk Schaap en Klaas Bruijn hoore Dit Boek toe". Landwehr, VOC 583; Tiele 606; Mendelssohn I, p.843-844. Dealing with all aspects of life at the Cape, incl. flora and fauna, geography etc. Containing an extensive description of the life and culture of the indigenous Hottentots with interesting plates illustrating their various habits (of i.a. hunting, fishing, childbirth and childcare, warfare and their various superstitions).
