EARLY VERMEIL SILVER LIDDED GOBLET WITH COLOURED LID.
South German.
Date: Early 17th c.
Maker/Designer: Possibly Nuremberg.
Technique: Silver, gold-plated, cold-painted in green and red.
Description: Round base with smooth tongues and vase-shaped nodus with three volute brackets. Conical
bowl with a slightly flared rim above a crimped rim. Below the liprim a wide decorative
band with engraved arabesques and fruit festoons. The slip lid with a wide, flared rim and
domed centre. The surface again with finely engraved decoration and crowned at the top by
a colourful tapered rim.
Weight: Ca. 225g.
Measurement: Height 26cm.
Mark: Without recognisable marks. Owner's inscription underneath on the foot rim: "I.M. FARVICH".
