Southern School oil on canvas landscape painting depicting a swamp scene, possibly in Florida, with Spanish moss laden trees before an early morning sunrise, rendered in an impasto technique. Signed lower left "Catherine (illegible signature)" possibly an early signature for Catherine Haynes Stockwell (Florida, 1895-1983). Housed in a giltwood Louis XIII style frame with a bead course running pattern. Sight: 20 1/4" H x 47 3/4" W. Framed: 27 1/4" H x 54 3/4" W.
Condition Report: Overall good condition with craquelure. Scattered areas of paint flakes/losses, largest 3/4". Frame with areas of loss to gilt.
