The photographs include: The Western Wall, a general view of Jerusalem, the Temple Mount, Jehosaphat's valley, the Mount of Olives, Yad Avshalom, Jaffa, Ramleh, David's Citadel, Bethlehem, Hebron, the Dead Sea, the Jordan River, Nazareth, Nablus [שכם], Mount Tavor, Tiberias and the Sea of Galilee, the Carmel, and more.
Felix Boniface [1831-1885] was a French photographer. Boniface is considered the most important figure in photographically chronicling the Levant of the 19th century. His photographs are characterized by rare quality, and he is recognized as a person who contributed an unprecedented contribution to the history of photography in the Middle East. Felix Boniface was perhaps the greatest EretzYisrael photographer of the 19th century, and undoubtedly the most well-known and productive among them.
[30] photographs and another 30 pages with descriptions of the photographs. Photograph size: 9.5x7.5 cm. Album size: 17x13 cm. Original red album with gilt imprint of the book's name, the Jerusalem flag and decorations on the binding and the spine; gilt page edges.
Fine-very fine condition, slightly detached spine, slightly worn binding, the leaves and the photographs themselves are in very fine condition.
