Four medallions containing flown metals: an Apollo 8 aluminum medallion, 1.5Ë diameter, the first issued by the Manned Flight Awareness program, features profiles of the three-man crew with reverse inscription stating â€Å“The Apollo 8 crew carried metal in this medallion on manâ€â„¢s first flight to the Moonâ€Â; and Apollo 11 Manned Flight Awareness medal, 1.25Ë diameter, with Aldrin on the lunar surface, â€Å“contains metal from spacecrafts Columbia and Eagle, that took astronauts Armstrong, Aldrin and Collins on their historic Apollo 11 mission that resulted in the first landing of man on the Moonâ€Â; an Apollo 14 silver mini-coin, 1/2Ë diameter, with Franklin Mint certificate; and NASAâ€â„¢s uncommon 25th anniversary medallion, 1.5Ë diameter, containing metal from Columbiaâ€â„¢s STS-5 mission in 1982, issued by Space Flight Awareness for presentation to the shuttle ground crew.
