Balthasar Charles was the son of Philip IV of Spain and for a short while the crown prince, he was engaged with Archduchess Mariana of Austria. Unfortunately, his short career was ended when he was murdered in 1646 by a conspiracy within the Spanish court's entourage.

Condition: - the canvas was marouflated on a multplex panel
- overpainted spots to the background
- several small overpainted spots to the forehead
- some overpainted spots to the clothing and the armor
- furthermore in our opinion, the work is in a good and hangable condition.
