Devotional painting of baroque period and Spanish school. A Virgin of delicate and adolescent face rests her left hand of long fingers on the shoulder of the Child Jesus, who looks at him with a loving countenance. She, on the other hand, conveys sorrow and foreboding in her melancholy eyes, which know the suffering that the child will undergo. He takes in his left hand an apple, symbol of the original sin and the consequent redemption of humanity that he will have to face.
