Spanish silver pyx with hallmarks of Pedro Frías (Sigüenza, † 1566).
Height: 12 cm.
Active in Sigüenza during the first half of the 16th century, Frías was the silversmith for the cathedral chapter from at least 1543. In this capacity, he was responsible for cleaning and repairing the cathedral's silver treasury while also producing pieces in his own workshop. There he created works of singular importance, such as the parish cross of Villar de Cobeta (Guadalajara).
