Specularite Slab Marquette Co. Michigan, USA This sizable slab is Specularite or 'specular' Hematite. The mineral variety has a shimmery appearance due to tiny flakes of Hematite and trace amounts of Mica. The elongated slab measures over 12 inches (30.5 cm) and exhibits a highly polished and sealed display face. The Hematite inclusions cover the majority of the primary face and have a yellowish green coloration and metallic luster, which contrast nicely against the dark gray bodycolor of the organic shaped slab. The polish has a few scratches, but they do not detract from the overall appearance. The backside has been left rough, giving insight into how the mineral appeared when found.
