Splendid necklace presenting a remarkable sequence of white, blue and red Venetian herringbone pearls. Each bead contains six layers. In view of their characteristics, these pearls are most probably from the 18th and 19th centuries. Presence of textures with bubbles, representative of 19th century production and deformations typical of late 18th century pearls. Each bead is separated by two beads of blue cane slices. Mounted on wire. One of the pearls indicates by its wear the difficulty of manufacturing these absolutely extraordinary pearls because it contains important traces of air bubbles, the lack of control of the stretching, the crushing of the radiation in twelve grooves, the problem of incrustation of the surface layer. All these imperfections make it a masterpiece for anyone who wants to study ancient pearls!
Congo Kinshasa, 18th-19th centuries. Mounted on wire, 20th century.
Length of the beads from 4 to 5 cm.
Internal length of the collar: 60 cm.
Impressive diameter of the beads from 3.1 to 3.6 mm.
Gross weight: approx. 850 g.
