Springfield Model 1903 Bolt Action Rifle Sniper/Competition Conversion .30-06 Caliber
This Model 1903 bolt action rifle was built by Springfield Armory in 1917 and chambered in .30-06. The rifle was rebuilt or re-arsenal into a competition or sniper configuration, similar to a 1903A1, with the addition of scope bases added on the top of the receiver and barrel just forward of the front sight and fitted with a Type C stock with pistol grip. The rifle features a blade front sight with clip on sight hood and rear adjustable ladder sight on an 18" barrel marked "SA" with flaming bomb cartouche and 9-30 barrel date. The receiver has the rear scope mount over the front receiver with Serial number visible, and "Hatcher" hole on the left side and is drilled for a Lyman 48 rear sight. The upper handguard has been modified for the front scope base and the stock is a Type C stock with pistol grip and checkered butt plate and fitted with a M1907 leather sling.
