Square cashmere shawl, India, ca. 1870,
black star-patterned ground with four fleurons extending to the corners, framed by pairs of flowering cashmere palm leaves arranged back-to-back and facing each other, alternating with fleurons. Espoliné cashmere weave, embroidered and fringed selvedges; the medallion bears an embroidered signature (small holes). Preserved in its box, 190 x 190 cm.
