1885-1957
St Tropez

signed Maclauchlan Milne and dated 26. (lower right)
oil on canvas laid on board
unframed: 51 by 63.5cm.; 20 by 25in.
framed: 66.5 by 79.5cm.; 26¼ by 31¼in.
Executed in 1926.

Condition Report:
The work appears to be have been executed on canvas which has been laid down on board which is in turn adhered to a back board. There are specks of paint loss in the lower right and upper right hand quadrants with a few other specks elsewhere. There is rubbing and abrasion to the framing edges with some associated specks of paint loss. There are what appear to be some surface scratches to and around the building in the centre of the composition. A small area of newsprint stuck to the surface in the lower left hand corner. A small area of surface cracking to the tree in the right of the composition. Surface dirt throughout. UV light inspection reveals areas of fluorescence in places but these appear to be the artist's original pigments. Presented in a cream painted frame.
