This piece represents Sir George Brown who fought in the Peninsular War of 1851 and in 1852 was awarded a knighthood. He also fought in the Crimean War of 1854-1856 commanding the light Division. Description:

Staffordshire figure with a military theme which features Sir George Brown on horseback, stood on an oblong base. Multi-coloured version. Decorated mainly to the front. Vent hole to the underside. This piece represents Sir George Brown who fought in the Peninsular War of 1851 and in 1852 was awarded a knighthood. He also fought in the Crimean War of 1854-1856 commanding the light Division. Book reference ,'Victorian Staffordshire Figures 1835-1875' Book 1, by A.& N. Harding, page 33, figure 51P.

Condition Report:

Good. No restoration. A few paint losses to the ground and flag. Some rubbing to gilt. KILN EFFECTS: a couple of flecks of stray coloured glaze to the front.
