Stained glass 127x79cm sits in oak frame of 140x89cm. Window is of stained glass . . . . Signed ‘t Prinsenhof Delft. Not a single fracture or crack in the panes. The window is reinforced on the outside by horizontal and vertical iron rods that are also connected around the centre piece. Can therefore also be used as an upper light. The window is of museum quality. PICK UP IN WAALRE OR DELIVERY AT A FEE (only in the Netherlands) . In 1889 Jan Schouten (1852 - 1937) founded his own glass workshop at the Schoolstraat in Delft. From 1891 to 1937 this studio for stained glass ‘t Prinsenhof was located in the Prinsenhof in Delft. He was able to have designers and stained-glass artists work for him in this studio, such as Herman Veldhuis, Dirk Boode and Lucas Knoll. In 1900 his work was awarded a gold medal at the World Exhibition in Paris. His first major assignment was the restoration of a window in the Nieuwe Kerk of Amsterdam. He then made a name for himself with the restoration of the stained glass windows of the Gouda Sint-Janskerk church, a project he and his studio mates worked on for more than 35 years. Also windows in other churches, such as the Oude Kerk in Amsterdam, the Grote of Sint Jacobskerk in The Hague and the Grote or Sint-Bavokerk in Haarlem were also restored by Schouten and his staff. For buildings such as the Peace Palace in The Hague, the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, the Nieuwe Kerk in Delft and the Inkpot in Utrecht, studio ‘t Prinsenhof designed new stained glass windows.
