Literature
"Taxidermist" is a 1984 etching by American artist Stan Washburn, showcasing his characteristic blend of Old Master technique and dry, dark humor. The print portrays a heavily bearded artisan enjoying a drink, entirely unaware of the immense danger posed by the ferocious grizzly bear standing right beside him. Above the bear, a divine hand descends from the heavens, accidentally sparking the beast back into existence. This visual narrative perfectly mirrors the fable etched below, which warns of the literal-mindedness of passing goddesses and concludes with the timeless, witty lesson: "Moral: Say what you mean."
