Oil on canvas; dimensions: 66 x 55 cm; signed lower right: "S. J. Suder".
Stanisław Jerzy Suder (1951–2015) was a Polish painter and visual artist associated with Kraków, where he lived from 1964 onward. He studied surveying but did not pursue a career in his chosen field. In his work, he employed a variety of techniques, creating landscapes, still lifes, flowers, and grotesque and surrealist depictions. A special place is held by the series “Ptaki Cudaki” (“Strange Birds”), depicting fantastical, anthropomorphized birds, often with a satirical character. Between 1978 and 2004, he participated in dozens of solo and group exhibitions. His works are held, among other places, at the Royal Gallery in London.
