Star Yachts, Birkenhead , NORTHERN STAR – 'SY/5' wooden pond yacht, English, circa 1960–67, the solid wooden hull finished in white with fine green lining and named 'NORTHERN STAR' fitted with a substantial green painted fixed metal keel, yellow painted deck resembling wooden planks, that retains the circular transfer inscribed 'STAR YACHT – GUARANTEED TO SAIL – BIRKENHEAD ENGLAND', original cotton sails and cord rigging, the mainsail bears the characteristic black five-point Star trademark and 'SY/5' model designation, with jib and mainsail, wooden boom and original-style metal deck fittings and mast mounting. (The survival of the marked original sails is particularly desirable, since these are frequently replaced or lost on surviving examples), approximately 540 mm long x 490 mm high overall.
