High quality silver shakudo patinated bronze figure of a boy standing with a chrysanthemum flower (kikudochi) in his hands, marked: Hoshu. This figure, a boy with a chrysanthemum flower in his hands is often a reference to the Chinese Sage Peng Zu (Jap. Hoso) : he lived during the Zhou dynasty (1st millennium BC) : as a boy he was a favorite of Lord Muwang but because of an offence he was banished to Nanyang. There he lived by drinking the dew that fell on chrysanthemums. As a consequence he never grew old and always stayed a boy and later became an immortal.
