A Meissen figure of a Hungarian woman, circa 1750

Probably modelled by P. Reinicke and J.J. Kaendler, wearing a bonnet with pink ribbon, a fur-lined green cape, a puce bodice with pink and gilt flowers, and a long dress decorated with flower sprigs and edged in gilding, 21.8cm high, crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue to rear edge of base (right little finger and left forefinger restored, tip of right forefinger chipped, minor chips and restoration to applied leaves on base)
Based on pl. 77 in the Comte de Ferriol's 'Receuil de cent estampes représentant différentes nations du Levant. . . . ', Paris 1714, or the edition published in German by Christoph Weigel the Elder in Nuremberg in 1719.

Beckmann, In Fürstlichen Diensten Komödianten, Sultane und Pagoden aus Meissener Porzellan (n.d.), p. 46; see R.
