Portrait of Clarence Darwell at the age of thirteen in side profile. Hirsch studied at the University of Zurich in Switzerland and taught at Bennington College and the Art Students League in New York City, later becoming chairman of the Art Department at Bard College

Signature: Signed "SH" and dated "1920" in faint lettering mid right in letter, marked "Stefan Hirsch 1899-1964" on plaque to front.
Condition: Areas of light foxing, diagonal crease across lower half, frame with some light surface wear, otherwise good condition.
