Stephen Wilmshurst, Basingstoke, an oak longcase clock the thirty-hour iron and brass birdcage movement striking the hours on a bell with an outside countwheel and with alarm work, the ten-inch square brass dial having a single hand with the raised chapter ring engraved with Roman numerals and makers name Stephen Wilmshurst, Basingstoke, with engraved decoration to the centre and alarm setting disc, with cast c-scroll corner spandrels, the flat-top oak case having wood pillars to the hood, height 190cm. Notes: Stephen Wilmshurst is recorded as working in Basingstoke from before 1784 with his father, also Stephen, recorded as working from circa 1746.
