Sterling Silver Jasper/Agate Necklace, Triple Strand

[ translate ]

Sterling Silver Jasper/Agate Pendant & Beaded Necklace with faceted crystal accents. The stones in this necklace are little unusual for me. The best I can say is that the green polished stones in the necklace are either rainforest rhyolite with olive opal stones or are a moss agate. They have a matte type of polish and not high gloss. They are ovals and appx 5mm thick and average size is 17.5mm by 12mm. They also have a few stones that looks slightly different that could be a chrysocolla malachite mix. There are polished green clearish type quartz nuggets with accent beaded beads between every two oval beads. The pendant is sterling silver and 2.75" long and 1.75" wide. It has a large deep tealish and green colors and was purported to be a malachite chrysocolla stone though I have no experience with that stone and I'm not sure if it's not a green jasper. The stone is bezel set in sterling and is appx. 39mm by 30mm. It has a scrolled dangle with a 9mm by 7.5mm bezel set - it could be a created green tourmaline but again, not sure on this either but it is not testing as glass. The pendant has a large bail where the three strands of polished stone pass through - the pendant either had the bail created around the necklace between a space between the beads or were threaded on either side of the bail. The top of the pendant is a scrolled crown that covers almost the entire top of the pendant and is 3/4" above the pendant and has a matching green, possibly tourmaline faceted stone that is bezel set and set on it's side accenting that scrolled design with a round faceted stone bezel set above it. The pendant is signed AF, marked .925 and tests .925. There are also beaded accents to the sides of the crown and at the base of the stone around the large stone of the pendant. This is an extremely interesting necklace with the mix of stones and having a raw natural look and then the sterling and shiny stones. The multi-strands have a clunky sort of design to them but it works. When it is stored it is easy to twist the beads around themselves and twist the strands - can be worn that way or you can untwist it - usually be moving the clasp or toggle through one of the strands until you get the three strands to be parallel to each other - the same as multi-strands of beads and pearls in other types of necklaces. Age is likely post mid-century. This is in very good condition other than the stones having some natural inclusions - not damaged. It has a Southwestern to a mix of various cultures including Indian, South America, Bali, Tibet, etc. This came from a PA estate. See photos. W.1.119.G.No.55.13X2 (L.D. 1/8/19).
