Apple Computer Company, the predecessor of Apple, Inc., was founded by Steve Wozniak, Ronald Wayne, and Steve Jobs (1955-2011) on April 1, 1976. Within one year, Wayne had divested his financial interests in the Steves' computer company, selling out in exchange for the equivalent of roughly $10,000 in 2023 money. The Wozniak / Jobs partnership proved successful. Jobs contributed his marketing and branding expertise, while Wozniak specialized in computer technology, design, and programming.

Apple, Inc. revolutionized the technology sector by increasing access to personal microcomputers. As of January 2021, Apple, Inc. ranks as the world's most valuable company.
