Steyr 8x60R M.1886 Portuguese Kropatschek bolt action rifle, serial number T460 (various other numbers to the bolt) 32.5inch barrel secured by two barrel bands and nosecap housing a bayonet lug, folding ladder sight and under barrel tubular magazine and side mounted cleaning rod, the receiver stamped with Portuguese crest and model designation, the stock also stamped with the royal crest. Together with a canvas sling and a bayonet and scabbard. Section 58(2) antique / obsolete calibre, can be owned without a licence. Buyer must be over the age of 18, photo ID will be required if this lot is to be posted out. Dimensions: 132cm longCondition Report The gun is in typical dark used condition these Kropatschek rifles are often found in. The whole rifle would benefit from a full strip and overall. The metalwork to the exterior of the gun has some light pitting throughout and the blued finish is wearing through in places. The bore is dirty and needs a good scrub out, it appears in fair order with all the rifling pattern remaining but there are some light pitting patches appearing as dark speckling. These might be accumulated dirt and could clean up. The action works correctly with a positive lock-up. The feeding ram seems to jump up and down as it should with the bolt. There are lots of dents and marks to the wood stock which can be seen from the images. There is some heavy corrosion to the butt plate, and wear to the impressed roundel on the stock. The bayonet has some heavy wear to the wood grips and the some overall light pitting and surface corrosion. There are small dents to the scabbard. Please register to request a condition report
