Condition Report:
The panel consists of 2 planks joined horizontally with fabric support on the reverse and is flat and stable. Some prior warping and cracking in the panel is visible along the upper left edge but it is stabilized. The image reads well beneath yellowed varnish with no obvious repairs to the naked eye. Under UV inspection, 2 campaigns of retouching are visible: an older campaign in the shadows under the fruit and birds in the lower half of the composition and in the dark background around the grapes, and a newer campaign of a vertical line of repair in the basket and scattered spots throughout. The painting would probably improve with a fresh varnish but can otherwise be hung in its present state. Offered in simply carved giltwood frame.
