Strange Tales #110 (Marvel, 1963) CGC NM+ 9.6 Off-white to white pages. Black backgrounds such as the one on this issue are easily dinged and usually don't age well, but that's not the case with this impressive copy. This Silver Age classic features the first appearance of Doctor Stephen Strange (Sorcerer Supreme), as well as the debut of longtime nemesis Nightmare, and key supporting characters Wong and the Ancient One. The character has long had a cult following, as his appearances in six MCU films and a key role in both seasons of the What If? animated series have made him a household name. As teased on Jack Kirby's cover, the Human Torch story features the first team-up of Paste-Pot Pete and Wizard. Story art is by Steve Ditko and Dick Ayers. The issue is currently tied for #19 on Overstreet's list of Top 50 Silver Age Comics. This copy ties with a few others for the top spot on CGC's census, beating out nearly 2,400 other copies -- including the Circle 8, Northland, Twin Cities, Green River, Curator, Don and Maggie Thompson, Stan Lee File, and Bowling Green copies.
